Mapping

Orthomosaic maps are a grouping of many overlapping images of a defined area which are processed to create a new, larger map, a highly detailed, up-to-date map that is in true scale. But more than just being a nice high-resolution map, the meta-information within an orthomosaic map allows for point clouds, volumetrics, NDVI, 3D tours, and more. This opens up endless possibilities for your business: allow clients to virtually tour your construction, mine site, etc via 2D or 3D maps for visual progress report, deliver up-to-date maps of your real estate to potential buyers, calculate raw materials on a construction site or easily conduct inspections over difficult terrain.

Inspections

An oil and gas company is about to conduct its required monthly pipeline inspection. The company would usually hire a $2,500-an-hour helicopter crew for the job. But now they're using a drone at a fraction of the cost. Roofs, cellular and communication towers, dams, power poles, electrical lines and more. Don't forget about the safety factors which are far less compared to having workers hanging 100s of feet in the air, that's a disaster waiting to happen.

Mining

What if a prospector carried not a pick and shovel, but a piece of technology that looks like a miniature airplane or helicopter? Mining companies globally are using drones for everything from mapping to mineral exploration to tracking stockpiles. Stockpile measurements, monitoring and mapping are just scratching the surface here.

Insurance

Drones aren't just for hobbyists and wannabe pilots. The insurance industry can use unmanned aircraft to reduce fraud, evaluate risks, and collect valuable data to reduce losses. It's not something out of a science fiction novel. Because the drone technology is here now and its going to stay to help make your life easier.
